Frequently Asked Questions

  • For your convenience we offer sessions from both the comfort of your own home or your child’s nursery/school.

We offer sessions around the Babergh and Mid Suffolk areas e.g. Sudbury, Lavenham, Stowmarket, Hadleigh. Please contact us to check if we cover your area. We also offer online teletherapy sessions.

  • We do not typically have a waiting list, but depending on where and when you wish to be seen, you may have a short wait. We aim to try and book you in within 1-2 weeks of initial contact. Please contact us to discuss your needs further.

  • An initial assessment is the first time we meet you. This session is tailored to your child’s individual needs and based on information provided on the case history form you are asked to fill in before the session. Typically, initial assessments last 60-90 minutes and involve a range of assessment methods, such as:

    1. Parental interview

    2. Observation of your child at play

    3. Informal, play-based assessment

    4. Formal assessment

    5. Feedback on exactly what the difficulties are and how therapy could help

    6. Strategies and ideas to take away

  • It is always useful to bring along your child’s red book, as well as any relevant reports from other professionals such as previous speech therapy, audiology, ENT, occupational therapy etc. Plus any educational reports that might be relevant e.g. EHC Plans or nursery / school reports.

It can also be very helpful to bring along a short video of your child communicating naturally in the comfort of their home environment. This means we can have a peek at how they communicate naturally at home, as some children may initially be shy at the first appointment.

  • We require 24 hours notice of a cancellation before the session, otherwise you will be asked to pay the full amount.

  • Yes please. We ask that parents/carers stay with their child during therapy and assessment sessions. It is so important for parents/carers to participate in the therapy process as they know their child best. Plus, we model strategies, tips and activities during sessions which are vital for the carryover process at home.
